My degree project at Rhode Island School of Design was redesign of the Harlem Museum. Myu proposal was to create a Musuem with an accelerated circulation path for visitors to navigate the building easier.
The Studio Museum in Harlem is an art museum that celebrates artists of African descent. The museum is located at 144 West 125th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard and Lenox Avenue in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, United States.

These are conceptual drawings that represent that general space configuration. Done with pencil, ink on paper.

Floor plans of final design include display areas, storage areas, and circulation.

One of the early concepts were on how to contrast different materials in the space.

Third Floor Offices and Storage spaces.

Skyway systems were planned for the space for lighter traffic throughout the day.

Second floor office and circulation.

Early studies introduced the possibility of a curtain wall globe to increase light.

Section drawing showing cantilever, records keeping and below grade.

Early floor plan studies.

East-West section through center of the building.

Short section of all levels in the Museum.

Longitudinal section showing the different programs in the Museum.

Short section of Museum past entrance.

Additional Longitudinal section past a break in the cantilever.
